Some
people have a passion that ultimately changes the course of
history. Avery Fisher was one such individual, and his
accomplishments became legendary far beyond the boundaries
of his native New York. His greatest contribution was the
pioneering spirit which enabled him to devise the basic
principles of high fidelity. This wonderful invention
increased the quality of sound reproduction by several
orders of magnitude and defined pure sound perfection.
Although Fisher had a passion for music, his true genius
manifested itself in his understanding of electronics.
However, he was not just the inventor of the transistorized
amplifier and the combination radio-phonograph. Fisher was a
visionary who activated untapped potential and made the
impossible possible. Not one to keep his accomplishments a
secret, he staged phonograph concerts for his friends and
built versions of his systems for them. He founded a company
in 1937, and HiFi was on its way. Avery, who was nearly 88
when he died in 1994, was a major instigator of the torrid
pace of development in the world he left behind. Did he
realize that the technical evolution would continue under
his name? Fisher still shapes the changes which are taking
place thanks to digital technology. The company will
continue to set the future direction in home cinema systems,
futuristic LCD panels, etc. and in keeping with the spirit
of Avery Fisher, it will maintain a passion for perfection.
We
owe it to him.
